What happens when you take a product manager from the outdoor industry and design jewelry? You get something that's artistic, but functional. It has utility but also meaning. Something that speaks to your run, bike or hike passions - to help you experience the joy of being active and outdoors. Tarma's designs aren't just made to look good, they're made to blend into your life and last for years. To do that, we pay attention to the small details . . .
FIT LIKE I WANT - because you're active and like to move your body, the pendant had to fit right. If you're like most, you like it to fall at a certain place on your chest. Too long, and it bounces around while you're moving. And can't be too tight. Lots of guys need something longer that a standard 18 or 20 inches. We developed a simple system using a metal toggle button that lets you easily shorten the cord length. Just slide the button down, tie a new knot and trim the excess cord. Extra long cord lengths of 30 inches are also available.

PENDANT IN FRONT, CLASP IN BACK - in addition to Fit, a key feature our customers wanted was not to have to continually "re-string" the pendant. If the pendant doesn't stay snug (capture) the cord or isn't fixed on the chain, then inevitably the clasp will end up in the front and you'll feel like moving the clasp back to the rear every few minutes.
BE LIGHT ENOUGH NOT TO NOTICE - Ideally we don't want you to notice the pendant while you're wearing it. It should just become part of you. But the metal pendant has to have some weight, so it will hang in the front on the cord or chain. If the pendant is too light and in a fixed position, the cord will carry the pendant off center, so we want just enough weight in the pendant to keep it in front. We design each pendant to a target weight range to match the thickness of the cord it will go on.
WEAR IT 24/7 - Active people usually don't like to have to take something off. And they want to wear it if they workout, take a shower, go swimming, etc. A couple of components are at work here. The poly cord we use is doesn't hold or absorb water (hydrophobic). So the cord dries quickly and doesn't feel clammy. Other materials, nylon and cotton absorb water (hydrophilic), so they dry slowly and feel wet long after you've dried off. Also, the materials in the clasp are inert metals - 316L stainless, silver, bronze - which won't rust or corrode, even in salt water.
LAST FOR YEARS - The materials have to be tough. Tarma's metal components are EDM cut or hand cast and will last a lifetime. We have the poly cord woven especially for us in 3, 2 and 1.5 mm thicknesses so it has the right "hand" or flexibility to be used with a variety pendants in the range of 1.5 to 5 grams. A finishing touch is the RF welded / sewn loop on the end. We also have replacement components available in the event something happens, so you can keep your pendant going for many years to come.
